2008 Othello 13th Annual Spud Run, Othello, WA. (added 7/20/2008)
A very pleasant day weather wise, mid 80's, light breeze. Quite a few cars turned out, even with the high gas prices. The folks that put this show on do a good job. This show is also "judged" by knowledgeable guys that walk around in the hot sun and meticulously review each and every car from top to bottom. They do a good job and I like "judges" more than "participant" voting. However, I would really like to understand how they judge a class that spans almost 30 years (1981 and newer for example) and how they compensate for the age of the vehicles. It always seems like the new cars (very late model) always walk away with the awards. It is too bad when a car driven off the show room floor, into a car show will take away an award because the paint on a 1981 vehicle isn't as "shiny" or the car itself show wear because of the age of the vehicle. Just curious how they do it. I suggest that they break the classes down further. Did they not make any cool cars after 1981? Always seems like the folks putting on the car shows think that after 1977 or so, that you can lump all of the cars from then on into one group. Come on, how can you do that? ... Show me the pictures.
